Life Updates: Your girl is employed, finding balance, self-care, and more!

I've been gone for about a month, but I'm so happy to say I'M OFFICIALLY EMPLOYED.

I was officially hired on at my internship at The Lip Bar about a week ago, and I also freelance at a small communications agency. So yes, your girl is technically a two job shawty.

I can't even explain my happiness and gratitude, but I am just so excited to embark on this new journey. I'm ready to put in the work, lean into these opportunities and learn as much as I can. It still feels like a dream because I literally am doing exactly what I wanted as a position. I get to write blogs, engage through social media, help create content, etc... like what more could your girl want?

If I could offer any advice to those who have recently graduated or will soon graduate, I would say just keep working and actively seeking opportunities to do what you love. That may look like volunteering, interning or creating your own thing. Whatever it is, just keep working. Even when you hear 1000 "no's" just know that when you continuously put in the work, someone will notice and believe in you. And never give up, because there's something out there with your name written all over it.

The number one tip I will share is STOP COMPARING YOUR JOURNEY TO OTHERS. I can't tell you how much time and energy I've wasted scrolling through LinkedIn and Instagram and thinking everyone's job update and success was equivalent to my failure.

But honestly, that's so not true.  I wasn't failing at all. I was continuously putting in work, and actively creating any opportunity I could for myself. And I now work exactly where I'm meant to be, and I couldn't be happier. It doesn't matter if it took spending my summers interning and working 12-hour long serving shifts. That's what MY journey looks like, and yours will look different too (and that's perfectly okay.)

No one's journey is super pretty, and flawless. The outcomes always seem way prettier. But the truth is, everything takes work and time. Have fun in your journey, and always stay optimistic.

But now that I'm employed, I have new struggles. Since I'm still settling into my new jobs, I don't have as much time to blog and create content. I have to be extremely strategic and prioritize! I just bought a new planner (side note: it's so cute and from Erin Condren,)  that I'm using to stay on top of my tasks for each week. I want to make sure that I'm doing a great job in my current positions, but also doing a  great job at running festivelyfaith.com.

And even while this month has been crazy, and resulted in me being less consistent on the blog, I've still gained so many opportunities this past month. I'm soo grateful. I am currently in the works of a few brand collabs, and a few have already gone live on my Instagram.

During the next few weeks, I really want to find some sort of balance (even though I know balance is always going to be a struggle.) I just want to get into a routine and become more aware of where I'm spending my time, while also leaving some room for relaxation and fun. I'm a Taurus so self-care is a MUST,  not a want! I definitely want to keep creating more post-grad and career content, so be on the lookout for that soon. I work from home a couple days out of the week, so I definitely want to document what that look like ( maybe in video form, we will see.) I also want to create more fashion content, and really just find my true purpose in my blog. Let me know what content you enjoy from me, and I will do more of that!

Okay, so next time I'm back on the blog, it won't be another update post. It will be actual content (pinky promise!) I will probably be posting on Wednesdays since I have some time on those days, so be on the lookout!

  2. Comparing yourself to others is the hardest things for me to overcome. I've had a very nontraditional path and I'm trying to see it as beautiful and unique rather than weak or failing. Congrats on your job and thanks for sharing!

  5. Congratulations. You are right we should never compare our-self or our lives with others. It takes times and hard work to see things happening. And of-course self care, time management and health matters the most.
